Hot Sticks Set

GEE!!! The weather has been horrible these past few days. I am surprised I haven't floated away! Trees are falling all over town. power is going out. TORNADO WARNINGS in Orange County... SCARY! So with that being said I have spent A LOT of time at home. I've been lurking on the Fedora Lounge reading all of the threads... Boy do I have a lot to learn.... Some of these ladies have so much vintage knowledge its incredible. I ran across the talk about these Hot sticks and had to have them!

I normally set my hair in sponge rollers (not so comfortable) or I do a curling iron pin curl set So I was excited to try something different. First set was HORRIBLE! I used EVERY curler so my hair was a poofy mess... NO brushing could save that rats nest! So this is pictures of my second set...

I also was watched a fabulous youtube video by Fleur about Faux 40's Bangs I'm going to go to Sallys and buy a rat to try it out. Im sure it will look bizarre on me though...

As far as my hot sticks set I think it was pretty swell for a second go! Next time I will add some setting lotion or mousse. What do you think?

Woman .... Circa 1950

Yay!!! here is my new "style" of embroidery!! Embroidery is ART!!! YAY I love her!! isn't she so saucy?? I love her hair!!! I want to marry her! Stitched onto the canvas and then added the nail heads around the edge for some flare! I did back stitch and split stitch. It took forever!! but I love her!! her nose is so cute!! I wish I had a nose like that....

For sale on my Etsy for $35 SOLD!!!!!

This is the first of many I will be adding to My Etsy! The next one is going to be so cute!! I already have it in the works! i really want to start to branch out in my embroidery... This is totally a different medium from what I am used to... Most of my stuff is either onesies or tea towels... but I want to start doing stuff that reflect me as a person. And since most of you know I am really into vintage things, Rock-a-billy music, and old country western! This is right up my alley!!

Embroidered Tea Towel, vintage suga' and cream!

So I was in the Favorite Recipe Swap on Craftster and we had to make something small for our swap partner! So she said she loved "vintage patterns & embroidered tea towels" well that is right up my freakin' alley !!! So anyways she said her kitchen is sort of "strawberry themed" and blue... so here is what I made.
vintage dishware

Its cute huh?? I got the patterns from here I love their little shoes... he's wearing loafers... and she is wearing some heels... I love the simple designs of vintage patterns. half the time the drawing is just a simple animated sketch and it just makes me swoon... they don't make things like they used to! I also added the "dingle- berries" for a kitsch feel... plus they are just sooo "gaudy cute" !
Besides that I have finished Katies swap stuff, YAY it took me forever!!! I just have to do a few finishing touches and it should be on its way!!! I will post pictures of what I made after she receives it!

Also I set up my Etsy account and now I just need to get some better photos of some of the things I have made so I can list them!! Thanks to many of you in blog land and on craftster who have inspired me to try and sell my stuff! besides that I already got the licensing agreement with Sublime Stitching so I am in the clear as far as that goes!!! I wonder if anyone will buy my stuff??? Hopefully... other then that... I need to get going on my stuff that I will be selling at a few Holiday craft shows...Also, I think I am all swapped out for awhile... SPEAKING of that... I received my goodies from Amyracinrose... I must post photos today....

Vintage Salt and Pepper Shakers and Swaps !!!

Here are the pics of the vintage salt and pepper shakers my grandma inherited from her mom!! I LOVE them. these are not even all of them they couldn't all fit in cabinet! My cousin Sabrina took these pics and I made her send them to me! My favorite are the dutch kids, the pregnant lady in the back with her hubby, and the coffee pots. My great grandparents owned a restaurant in Iowa and I think thats what started her S&P collection! My grandma hinted that since I collect S&P shakers as well she is thinking of giving them to me!!! wwweeeeee !!!

Also this past week I have received some swap goodies!!! a pillowcase and a cross stitch from Katie I am sssooo in love with the pillowcase!!! thank you thank you! And today I got a swap package from Serendipity_sarah she made me "finger-tip mitts" with the cutest fabric EVER! its all famous places in California !! love it! here are some pictures of them!

My brother already used them to move a boiling pot! He was actually really impressed (he's 18 he doesn't think crafting is cool) these will be PERFECT for baking some cookies!!! mmmmm mmm mmm ! anyways I can't waiiiiitt to get my apron in another Swap I am in!
